After one year of highly grooving research on perlon with ark, karat, found sound and minibar with spasm as Ultrakurt, the chef is back on his own with drinks for everybody. Cabanne’s Minibar label present this excellent dry-funk workout from the Swiss producer Agnes. This is deep stuff with a great groove built on a splattering of tight clunks, wiggling bass stabs and mangled vocal snippets. It’s reminiscent of the best aspects of Matthew Dear’s output, water-tight production that’s at times disorientating but always focused on the flow and development of the rhythms and grooves.
