Label boss Cabanne steps up for the third release from the Parisian Minibar label offering up 3 delicate minimal techno tracks with a great groove and plenty of character reminiscent of Matthew Dear’s dry-funk inflected productions minus the vocals. The overall sound of this release is fantastic - soft and gentle foundsounds and samples have been combined with some of the punchiest percussion around creating a uniquely heavy yet warm sound.

Minibar - Maximalistische Barausstattung aus Paris

Beim Menschen ist es der Hund. Doch wer ist der beste Freund des DJ? Hopp mal vorgestellt: DJ kommt nach durchzechter Nacht zurück ins Hotel. Mädels sind alle im Bett, leider aber nicht in seinem, Turntables haben den letzten Geist ausgehaucht und wer bleibt? Der Fernseher, der Duschvorhang, das Telefon, mit dem man schnell Mutti anrufen könnte, oder, mit Abstand der sexieste Kandidat: die Minibar.
Das hat Cabanne, DJ und Produzent aus Paris, schon öfters erlebt, und plötzlich war klar, dass sein lang ersehntes eigenes Label Minibar heißen musste: „Ganz nach dem KISS-Prinzip, Keep It Short and Simple.“ Et voilà, und schon hatte Cabanne, der auch auf Perlon und Karat releast, sein eigenes Label in der Tasche und weil so ein Label einiges zu tun gibt, hat sich Cabanne Spasm, seinen besten Freund (aha, da wird sich wohl einer doch noch entscheiden müssen), mit ins Gummiboot geholt. Und der produziert natürlich kräftig mit, wenn’s darum geht, die minimalistischen Minimal-Sounds ins Minibar-Format zu prügeln. Doch wie sagt man so schön, aller guten Dinge sind drei, und darum muss an dieser Stelle n’Eric die Bühne betreten. Er kuckt, dass die Promosheets rausgehen und die Kröten reinkommen, oder so. Und damit es nicht langweilig wird, holt sich die Minibar-Crew öfters mal musikalische Unterstützung von Agnès von STHLM in Genf. Wer sich jetzt ein heißes blondes Chick aus Stockholm vorstellt, schießt kräftig daneben. Agnès ist eine er. Mit Bart und allem Drum und Dran. Da wird also oft schon ziemlich heftig abgerockt, so wie das Minimalisten unter sich halt machen, und das einzige was nicht minimalistisch ist, ist die Ausstattung der Minibar. So sind aus dieser Orgie die erste Minibar von Ultrakurt, für alle die es nicht wissen: das sind Cabanne und Spasm als Cocktail, die zweite von Agnès, mit Phantasie anregendem Namen „Treat me bad“ und die dritte und bisweilen letzte von Cabanne selber rausgekommen. À votre santé!

Cabanne’s Minibar label present this excellent dry-funk workout from the Swiss producer Agnes. This is deep stuff with a great groove built on a splattering of tight clunks, wiggling bass stabs and mangled vocal snippets. It’s reminiscent of the best aspects of Matthew Dear’s output, water-tight production that’s at times disorientating but always focused on the flow and development of the rhythms and grooves.
